Chinese Five Spice Pouch, 100g
Chinese five spice, or Chinese 5 spice, blends are based on the ancient philosophy of representing both yin and yang in food. The blend incorporates all five elements of Chinese cooking: bitter, sweet, pungent, salty and sour into a single spice mix.
Use Chinese five spice as a meat rub or a marinade for rich meats such as duck, beef and pork which can carry the big flavours. Also use a pinch of the five spice blend to season stews and vegetable dishes.
